Bar JET History
Live Music Bar JET was established when JET bassist, Taki Furugen, financed, constructed [with the help of Jimmy Ginoza (the original guitarist), Etsu Aguni (the original drummer), Kiyomitsu Kubota (the sound engineer), Gimasan, Keichi Watari, Ikeshirosan, and numerous other lovers of vintage rock music], and opened the bar in 1994. Live Music Bar JET is about vintage rock music and mature-minded people who know how to appreciate and enjoy it without getting into other people’s faces or trying to become the main attraction! Luckily that is the type of customer we normally get at the club. Our customers come from all walks of life and range from parents of service members visiting from stateside to young cola-sipping musicians who want a chance to gain knowledge about rock music through observations of live performances. The bar offers an informal and relaxed atmosphere with outstanding vintage classic rock music and reasonably priced drinks.
Hi Dawn and Taki – Found your web site while looking for Okinawa related stuff. Hope you guys are well. If you ever plan to visit the Washington DC area, please stop by to say hello and stay with us. I’m still playing with a band. We do a lot of weddings, private parties and corporate gigs (www.redstoneparty.com).
Take care,
Mario

Hey Mario,
Been a long time. Good to hear you are doing well and still playing. Any recordings of originals?
As for the island, physically it is quite different from when you and Renny played with Kotobuki in 1975. As for the music, the tunes haven’t changed much…lol.
Sorry I didn’t get more of a chance to chat when you visited last time, but socializing at the bar without interuptions of one kind or another is a bit difficult. For us, the operation and upkeep tends to occupy most of our weekend, and parts of the weekdays, as well. After all the facility is a Mom and Pop industry, you know.
Anyway, I’ll check out your site and please check in to keep us up to date every once in a while.
Till later… 🙂

Hey Dawn – Got your holiday greeting. Happy new year to you and Taki. I’m also sorry we did not get to spend more time when Lori and I were there. I’m hoping that we can visit again.
Take cate,
Mario
